Minimalist washrooms by Maxwood maximise commercial remodelling
The minimalist styling of Maxwood’s elegant Mystiq toilet cubicle system is maximising the ‘Grade A’ remodelling of town centre offices in the heart of the Thames Valley.
Fully refurbished to meet modern business needs, Twenty Kingston Road offers around 43,000ft2 of superior commercial space in Staines-upon-Thames. The four-storey building’s striking design detailing, bespoke features and stylish finishes are reflected in Maxwood’s complete supply and fit package of executive male and female WCs, showers and lockers for each floor.
Twenty Kingston Road boasts a high specification and prime location designed to appeal to local and international companies. Maxwood worked closely with London-based SPPARC Architecture and fit-out specialists BWI to supply smart, functional washrooms that complement the building’s contemporary interior design and maximise sales/rental potential for the client.
Maxwood secured the prestigious commercial washroom contract following a tendering process. Featuring a full height, flush-fronted design, Maxwood’s Mystiq toilet cubicle system provided a true value solution for the project, without compromising quality and style. Toilet cubicles for male and female facilities are manufactured from high pressure laminated panels in Maxwood’s ‘Indian Fig’ finish. Cubicle doors are complemented by Maxwood’s Aspect stainless steel hardware range, which includes easy-to-use thumb-turn locks and hinges with concealed fixings.
The clean lines of the washrooms’ Mystiq cubicles are enhanced by crisp white Cascade vanity troughs from Maxwood’s Xeista range with wall mounted chrome finish sensor taps. A sleek-looking, low maintenance solution for high end commercial washrooms, Cascade features a descending slope which causes the water to flow directly into a drainage gulley without leaving splashmarks. Maxwood’s custom design for the washrooms includes hinged vanity mirrors above and below the vanity top, together with back-painted glass incorporating intricate cut-outs to accept DDA compliant grab rails where required. The vanity section is given an ultra-modern twist by the innovative use of concealed, under-mounted LED light strips.
Running of pipework and mounting of sanitaryware at Twenty Kingston Road was made quicker, easier and more secure with Maxwood’s Maxwall Duct Panelling system. Made-to-measure glass finish ducting units, some of which were back-painted in an eye-catching Purple Red (RAL 3004), were manufactured offsite by Maxwood and delivered to site ready to install to toilet cubicles and male urinals.
Maxwood’s comprehensive washroom package for Twenty Kingston Road also included a DDA compliant WC and two water-saving showers on each floor. A shower specially designed for disabled access, including stainless steel grab rails, is provided on the ground floor. In addition, 30 lockers were purpose-made by Maxwood to fit the given space in line with the Government’s scheme to encourage employees to cycle to work. On completion of the washroom project, BWI’s Senior Commercial Manager, Grant Jones, says “I was very impressed with the end product on site.”
Maxwood is a family business with many years of experience in the design and manufacture of high quality washroom systems for the commercial sector. The company’s comprehensive range of high quality, easy-to-fit washroom cubicles, vanity (hand basin) units, lockers, duct panelling systems, and accessories is complemented by exceptional levels of customer care and project support.
