Maxwood Washrooms take pole position at Velocity Brooklands
High quality washrooms from Maxwood, featuring premium materials such as textured woodgrain laminates, back-painted glass and natural stone, are complementing the ‘Grade A’ interior specification of a new commercial development within the historic Brooklands motor racing site in Surrey.
Maxwood supplied a complete supply and fit washroom package for Velocity Brooklands which provides over 100,000ft2 of prime office accommodation in two connected buildings.
Maxwood worked in partnership with the project’s main contractor and architect to provide washrooms that delivered high design impact, whilst also being functional and encouraging the respect of users. Male and female facilities, incorporating toilet cubicles, showers, lockers and benching, are installed on each of the buildings’ five floors. The cubicles, manufactured from Maxwood’s Marante range, have a unique pilaster design which is rebated to run in-line with the doors for an elegant flush surface appearance. The full-height cubicle doors offer total privacy and are finished in an attractive ‘Truffle Brown Avola’ textured woodgrain laminate.
Washroom cubicles at Velocity Brooklands are combined with Maxwood Xeista Cascade vanity units. Vanity tops are made from engineered Zodiac quartz stone, a beautiful, non-porous surface that will retain its look and lustre with minimal maintenance. Mirrors are installed from vanity unit level up to the ceiling together with some full height mirrors and pelmet lighting. Splashbacks were made from back-painted frosted metallic glass. Chrome finish single lever mix taps for hand basins complete the washrooms’ smart, contemporary feel.
The Maxwall Duct Panelling system was used to assist washroom installation and neatly conceal pipework and cisterns. Made-to-measure for each project and delivered to site ready to be installed, Maxwall ducting units make the running of pipework and mounting of sanitaryware quick, easy and secure. At Velocity Brooklands, Maxwall units in back-painted ‘Lime Zest’ glass provide fully accessible back panels to toilet cubicles, while full height Maxwall panels in white back-painted toughened glass are installed to male urinals, complete with frosted glass urinal dividers.
Three showers, including one designed for disabled access, are provided in all washrooms in line with the Government’s green scheme to encourage employees to cycle to work. These facilities also include lockers from Maxwood’s Ocean range, which offers a robust storage solution for wet and dry environments, together with complementary benching. At Velocity Brooklands, the lockers’ standard aluminium carcass is combined with durable, easy to clean solid grade laminate doors and sides in a white finish.
Summing up, Maxwood’s Marketing Manager, Andrew Taylor, says “Smart, well-designed washrooms can help maximise the sales/rental potential of new and refurbished office accommodation. Our washroom package for Velocity Brooklands demonstrates Maxwood’s ability to design and manufacture bespoke solutions using our versatile range which meet the exacting design and quality standards of modern corporate interiors. Having worked successfully with Velocity’s architect and main contractor on a previous commercial washroom project, it also shows the value of building good working relationships with your supply partners.”
