As a result of an award-winning redevelopment of a former British newspaper headquarters, The Ray is located on Farringdon Road in Clerkenwell; one of London’s creative hubs. The building provides over 100,000 square feet of offices, affordable workspace, hospitality and retail, and features enhanced public spaces that look to re-establish connections to historic streets and spaces.

Maxwood Washrooms were commissioned to create a stunning washroom that reflected the industrious aesthetic of the building’s exterior, which prominently features patterns created by traditionally-coloured bricks and tiles, along with concrete ceilings and brutalist design elements. The new washroom design brings together contemporary fixtures and bold colours to form a smart environment with considerate design touches.

Key Successes:

To achieve the floating vanity look, extensive bracketry was required within the rear stud partition wall. A huge amount of collaboration went into the bracket positioning in order to avoid the c-studs and pipework. The final result is a truly stunning design that through the intelligent use of light and shadow gives the illusion of a floating vanity unit.
